- This page is about the "George Bush doesn't care about Black People" fad. If you were looking for 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Incident, see Kanye West's VMA Incident.
The Black People fad was created in October 2005 during a Hurricane Katrina disaster relief telethon, Kanye West broke away from the script much to the shock and dismay of those on the set, including fellow speaker Mike Myers, and complained about the treatment of black people, not just during Hurricane Katrina, but period. He then followed by saying the now well-known and extremely quoted comment: "George Bush doesn't care about black people". In the fad, the phrase "black people" is usually replaced with another YTMND.
Kanye West also figured into another fad when he interrupted Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards. See Kanye West's VMA Incident for more information.
