Don't Tase Me, Bro! is a quote from University of Florida student Andrew Meyer, during a September 17, 2007 campus forum with politician and 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry.
During a question and answer segment, Mr. Meyer presented various questions to Senator Kerry. At one point, his microphone was cut off and campus police escorted him to the exit. He did not comply with the officers, asking officers what he did and why he was being removed. He resisted being placed in handcuffs, and was told if he continued to fight, the officers would use a taser to subdue him.
It was shortly after this that the quote, and the tasering which followed took place. The "Don't Tase Me, Bro" fad (occasionally referred to as DTMB) usually captures these events, and the screams that followed. This fad wasn't necessarily started by a particular site, but by several users perceiving this line as "fad material" and quickly implementing it into new sites.
Some sites within the fad also reference the similarity between the voices of Florida University student Andrew Meyer, and comedian Dane Cook.
