Stop motion is an animation techinque where a series of photographs are displayed in succession to give the illusion that static objects are moving. YTMND fads which utilize this technique include Asiacopter and butt racing.

A unique aspect of fads which require stop motion is that less YTMNDs are made using the fad. This is most likely because it is more work to take photographs in "real life" than it is to make a photo edit or computer animation (even if it takes less skill). This sentiment was echoed by inkdrinker, the creator of the Asiacopter fad, when he commented that Asiacopter's success was totally unintentional as he believed the difficulty of editing an animated picture frame by frame would make it impossible to popularize.
