The first site to feature a Thwomp was by the user Gabu; this site showed a Thwomp crashing down on a person playing a game of chess. Afterwards, another user, KKM, turned it into a [[forced fad]]. He made several sites with Thwomps crashing down on various fads. Later, he started creating sites that did not mention Thwomp anywhere in its URL or title, making the inclusion of a Thwomp a surprise. The Thwomp fad is often one of the most difficult fads to search for since the majority of Thwomp sites are [[interruption fads|surprise sites]].

Worthy spinoffs:

The Thwomp fad is based on the enemy from the Mario series. In these games, they rapidly descend to crush Mario. On YTMND, they act the same way, showing up to crush something or someone, often unexpectedly.

The first site to feature a Thwomp was by the user Gabu; this site showed a Thwomp crashing down on a person playing a game of chess. Afterwards, another user, KKM, turned it into a forced fad. He made several sites with Thwomps crashing down on various fads. Later, he started creating sites that did not mention Thwomp anywhere in its URL or title, making the inclusion of a Thwomp a surprise. The Thwomp fad is often one of the most difficult fads to search for since the majority of Thwomp sites are surprise sites.
