The blur fad is about original YTMND's or random movie quotes being blurred and/or bleeped in certain words so the illusion is created that some offensive word is said. It is similar to Jimmy Kimmel Live's This Week in Unnecessary Censorship segments.
It started with a comment by jp2m5 in the comments page of a ytmnd that Spotz made which can be found here. ac6517 made the first blur site and from there it was known for being one of the most hated fads ever.
The blur style of fads was eventually associated into GAYTMND, where lines would be blurred so that it appeared that a dirty message was received.
